Comcast update

So in one of my last post I told yall about the wonderful experience we had getting the cable turned on at the new house. Well the experience got even better a couple of Sundays ago. We had cable, we had all our channels (SEC and HBO being the two most important), but we did not have OnDemand. Well, we did but we didn't have everything like we pay for. So some tv shows I could access and some I couldn't. The tv said it was a subscription issue so, naturally, I called customer service.

Boy was that a mistake! Over two hours later I had been transferred 5 times, been told each time they could not help me (this includes the billing department and technical support), had an appointment set up with a technician (because apparently that is Comcast's solution to everything), and been hung up on once. The farthest I got was with the billing department. They figured the wrong codes had been sent to our box so she attempted to resend them. Unfortunately, she sent the wrong codes and I lost everything. Phone, cable, and internet. Luckily the phone came back on so I could wait another half hour to try to get someone back on the phone! Yay! Best part, the billing lady said technical support should have helped me and was trying to transfer me to someone who could. That is when the phone cut out. Perfect timing...

I was frustrated and out of patience so I took a chance and texted the technician who came out and hooked everything up. He was off but he responded right away and had everything fixed in 20 minutes. The billing lady was right, it was the codes. My question is, how can a technician on his off day fix the issue in 20 minutes when technical support (who has more capabilities than the technician at home does) couldn't?

Then yesterday I came downstairs to hear the cable box making a crazy, I am about to blow up, noise. One quick text to "our technician" and he will be here tomorrow to replace the box. I hope he is ok with us keeping his number for life.

Our move in pictures (modeled by Auburn)

Exhausted from packing boxes...

Exhausted from loading the truck...

Enjoying our last play time at the old house...

Trying to figure out where to play since the new living room has nothing but the dreaded hard wood floors.

Exhausted from moving in...

Exhausted from trying to figure out where everything should go in the new house....

Getting settled and ready to watch some football!

Checking out the new neighborhood and being a good watch dog...

Finally in the new bed and taking a breather from running up and down the stairs...

A week wrap up

Well we FINALLY got the cable/internet/phone hooked up at the house so I can finally blog and tell you all about the move. It sucked. The end. :)

It has been a very long week. When we started last Tuesday, I thought we had a good head start. We had a good bit of stuff packed and ready to be loaded up. But then the lack of help and the amount of stuff we have had me thinking we were going to regret not hiring someone to move us. And I did. Poor Doug and Ryan worked late into the night every night loading Doug's Dad truck and taking loads over to the new house. They were both exhausted and very sore by Sunday. But nothing was broke so the hard work was worth it.

Friday was delivery day. We got our new mattress (which we still have not slept on) and new bedroom furniture early in the day. The last on the list was Comcast. Unfortunately, we did not have everything set up (TV, cable boxes, modem, etc) and we got a tech that was more concerned about getting off than helping us. He was here all of 15 minutes and left. He rescheduled our install for Sunday at 5. He left out the date... Sunday Sept 7. So Sunday Aug 31 when no one showed up, Doug called and learned that not only did we have the wrong day, the guy deactivated our account. After calling all his contacts (another perk of working at Best Buy), Doug could not find anyone to reset us so he could do the set up himself. Thankfully someone got us an appointment for today so I will have football tomorrow. Last Saturday, Doug rigged up something crazy so I could watch GameDay. Then Ryan gave me full access to his TV and couches so I would not miss a moment of football. I must say I have two good men who take care of me and know what is most important in life... college football!

Besides the cable debacle, everything else went pretty smoothly. There were some hiccups but nothing that wasn't/can't be solved. Like, the crappy shower heads that wouldn't allow water to come out. That first shower was very interesting. The new house needed a little extra cleaning to get it to our standards. Having to clean the old place and the new place at one time wore be out. I think 409 may have soaked through my skin and into my blood stream. We were suppose to be out of the apartment on Saturday but that didn't happen. We had to bust it to get everything out and cleaned on Sunday. It took us a few tries to find our new mailbox. Should have took the lady up on the "Let me show you the mailbox" offer. Oops! We had bunches of really nice boxes and loads of packing paper that I planned on giving to someone in need. But the rain decided that it would make life easy for us by soaking them and making it easy to pack into the trash cans. (Oh, we have two. One for trash and one for recycle. Separating our trash is going to be a huge adjustment!) We are still missing a crockpot. I have no clue where it wondered off to but if that is the only thing we lost (I think) then we did good.

Auburn is slowly getting use to the new house. She is adjusting to the new hardwood floors. Still not a fan but she is realizing if she wants to go anywhere she has to walk on them. Walking straight she is fine; going around something (like around the couch to the front door) is the "difficult" part apparently. She likes running up and down the stairs. I was scared she was going to revolt and refuse to go on them. Ha! She really likes the "bathroom" being so close to the front door. It is definitely making my job easier!

There is still a ton to unpack and put away but we are slowly getting there. My goal this weekend is to get sheets on the new bed so we can finally sleep on it. We have been concentrating on getting the huge boxes out of the first floor so we could walk through it and the master has fallen to the wayside. I think our biggest adjustment is getting use to the multiple floors. We have always had a 1 story so the thought of having to go up the stairs to use the restroom, change clothes, or do pretty much anything in the bathrooms/bedrooms/laundry room/office is a little daunting. We will adjust and become healthier from it! :)

Other than moving and unpacking, we have done much of nothing. Our five year anniversary is today and we will probably celebrate watching TV. You just don't know how hard its been not having ESPN and the SEC Network all week! Maybe if the weather cools down Auburn and I can go for a run. We are ready for fall! This 90 degree weather needs to take a hike! The trees have got the fall memo. Now the temperature needs to catch up. I have cute long sleeve Auburn shirts I need to be wearing!
