A long week that ended with FUN!

As I have mentioned quite a few time, becasue we were not excited at all about it :), our friends moved into our building last Saturday. We helped them get settled and then enjoyed spending time with them without a 15 minute drive home at the end of the night. Of course no move is completely smooth. Nothing was broke but the furniture didn't get there until 9:30 pm and had to be squeezed through the door. Their only other issue was with comcast, which isn't that a given, and the ice maker. Sunday is when the real fun began. I woke up with bug bites on my legs and they spent the night with no air. We got their air fixed but my day did not go as well. I took a little tumble in the parking lot when I was walking Auburn. Our feet got tangled together because she was not paying attention to where she was going. She got stepped on, whimpered, and then went in the direction I was going trying not to step on her again. Next thing I know the ground was getting much closer to my face. My hip, palms, and right foot got the blunt of it but I was ok. It really scared Auburn. She came over and sat right next to me. Poor thing.

Monday I woke up with more bug bites. The bad thing was they itched like CRAZY!! I washed everything I could think of and vacuumed the mess out of the house. When I woke up with more bites on Wednesday I went crazy. (we were at over 30 bites all on my legs) I tore up the bedroom, vacuuming and cleaning every inch of the bed. The oddest thing is I was the only one with bites. No body that helped move had them, Ryan and Sarah did not have them, the dogs nor Doug had them. It was JUST ME! I went to the doctor to get some cream to help with the itch and I was thrilled when it worked (I was about to start gnawing my legs off) and I did not wake up to any more on Thursday.

Sunday we introduced Murphy, Ryan & Sarah's pug, and Auburn. They are still figuring each other out but I am hoping they become best friends. Their play styles are different (Auburn is more of a tug of war, chase me kind of a dog where Murphy is a fetch ball, bring it to you dog.) I am hoping Auburn picks up some  good behaviors like "bring it to me" and "give it to me". Ha! She likes to keep it and make you chase her. SMH!

Thursday was made interesting when the pot of boiling water caught on fire. Not sure how it happened but I am guessing there was something under the eye that caught fire. I was making salmon patties, noticed the billowing smoke coming out from underneath the pot and saw the ash falling from the sky, then looked under the pot to see the flames. Doug had his headphones on, playing XBox, so I had to run into his bedroom to get him. I scared him to death elbowing him, hands full of salmon patties, screaming, "FIRE!" Ha! He put it out but we had ash from the kitchen to the dining room and all the way to the living room. Doug was not happy about cleaning the house two nights in a row but this one he could not blame on me. Needless to say, Friday we ate out for dinner. :)

Saturday was the first in awhile Doug and I split up. He went with Ryan to get him a new phone (he cracked his screen and the SIM card stopped working) while Sarah and I went shopping. She was still needing to get stuff for the house and I had groceries to buy so we teamed up in our errands. I also got the chance to introduce her to Home Goods. I think she liked it. I have to limit my trips there because that store is truly dangerous to the bank account. :) After that we met back up for lunch at Red Robin and then prepared for the main event. Doug had found a place not far from our house that had 50+ mph go carts. Unfortunately the wait was 2 hrs+ when we got there so that got put on hold. Looking at the track, it was small; so I am not sure if the 50 mph will be reached but I know they will  try. To get their man-adrenaline out, they went to the shooting range. After that it was dinner at Olive Garden and XBox (yeah not Sarah and my's idea). All in all, it was a great Saturday spent with great friends. Definitely something we needed with my crazy week and Doug having inventory this week.

D.C

Last Saturday we took Doug's cousin to see D.C. We saw the mall, tons of monuments, the Museum of Natural History, and the archives. We were completely exhausted by the end of the day.

This was the first time I saw water in the WWII monument and the Lincoln Memorial reflecting pool. This time, thanks to the green paint and the earthquake two years ago, I got to see Lincoln and the Washington monument surrounded by scaffolding. It is true, you see something new every time you go. :)

Air & Space Smithsonian in VA

A week later but better late than never, right? We have been busy Nunley's the last week and a half. Lots to do and lots of fun. Last Friday I took off half a day and we headed to the Air & Space Smithsonian in VA. Doug's cousin was in town for a week so we planned lots of site seeing for her. Unfortunately, after two days we were exhausted so we opted for the couch instead of Gettysburg and Baltimore on Sunday and Monday. If you ever get up this way we highly recommend the Air and Space Museum. It is about a half day trip between the drive over and all the exhibits inside. We are so glad we got the opportunity to visit.

Seen "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen"? Then you would recognize this Smithsonian and this plane. They had a whole display with props from the movie and a video of how they brought the Transformer plane alive.

Cool plane with a cartoon cat carrying a bomb. :)

One of the Discovery shuttles

It literally looks like wood with thousands of Duct Tape squares covering it.

You could go up in the observation tower that was an old air traffic control tower. It overlooked the Dulles International Airport runways.

Dinner with Friends

Last night we got together with some of my current and old coworkers for dinner at Longhorns. We had a great time catching up, celebrating a recent engagement, and hating on those that could not be there (yeah you know who you are!) :)

And lets all note who my husband chose to sit by... Yeah, I got dissed. :)

Oooohhhh'ssss

Friday Doug and I went to the Orioles vs Mariners game on Friday night. The weather was much better than the last game we attended. It was nice, just the two of us. A real date night! And we both got to see our first live grand slam. That was fun! The stadium was rocking! The food and atmosphere could not have been any more perfect. We definitely need to take advantage of the team being so close by and go to more games.

Birthday money gone!

Last weekend we drove up to Bel Air, MD to go to Kirkland's. Yep, just like Cracker Barrel you have to drive at least an hour to get to one. But I had birthday money and a Cracker Barrel gift card that was burning a hole in my pocket so we had to get out and spend it. :) I scored big with great deals all day long! I got a lamp, set of sconces, and a large framed picture (regular $100, I got for $20!) at Kirklands for about $75. SCORE! Not sure if it unfortunate or fortunate, but one of the sconces is a little messed up (teach me to not open the box and look) so we have to GO BACK and exchange it. I think we will go to the one in Waldorf, MD (southern MD) since we have not been to that area of MD. You know, kill two birds with one stone. Plus there was a few other items I had my eye on that I can go back and get. It's another hour drive but it will make for a good day trip.

After we left Kirklands we headed to Doug's choice... Best Buy. Poor guy never gets to shop at his store because he is still in uniform and everyone keeps asking him for help. We were in desperate need of a new printer so we picked up one of those and a little toy for me. It's a Logitech keyboard for my IPad and it's PURPLE! I love a touch screen but some things (like blogging :) ) come easier with a keyboard. I really like it! It was expensive (could have bought a few pairs of shoes for the retail price) but since Doug gets a discount and all, I approved the purchase.

The next stop on the great deals tour was Victoria Secrets. Here is a picture of me wearing what I got...

NOT!! :)

But I did get some good deals thanks to the reward coupons I get for having a store credit card (totally worth the extra lines on the credit report!).

Doug's Mom had to go buy some gold earrings that were on sale so I took advantage of the sale too and bought some cute earrings. And that ended my burning of hole in pocket because it was all gone! But a great day with Doug & his parents exploring a new part of MD.
