Having fun at the Grandparent's house

First time in a pool at Pop's. He was a little fussy at first but he eventually enjoyed it.

Getting a very small taste of Pop's homemade strawberry ice cream

Mason's Milestones

Mason has been hitting many milestones lately. Here are just a few...

He found his tongue...

He found his hair...
(Sorry no picture yet on this one)

He has found his feet...

Learned to rub his eyes when sleepy...

Learning to grab objects with his hands on his own (especially Mommy's hair!)...
(sorry no picture of this one either)

AND learned to roll over on his belly!

Inner Harbor Sunset

During our tour of the aquarium we took a break to eat some dinner. Doug went to Hard Rock and got us the biggest turkey bacon sandwich I have ever seen.  It was a cool, peaceful night at the Harbor. We very much enjoyed our unplanned picnic.

Baltimore aquarium

Last week we went to the Baltimore aquarium at the Inner Harbor. Mason slept some, fussed some, but for the most part he enjoyed looking at all the lights. I know he won't remember it but we had a great time. We can't wait to take him back when he gets older.

2nd Cardiologist Appointment

We had a good cardiologist appointment last week. Maaon's pulmonary pressure (what caused the PPHN) decreased from 50% to about 30%.  The doctor was very pleased with this decrease, his valves, and his murmur. We go back for another check up in January when he is 9 months. The doctor thinks his murmur will be gone by the next appointment. Mason was so happy during the appointment. I literally had to hold him still so the doctor could hear and see everything he needed to. He is a little wiggle worm! He was grabbing the white paper on the table and pulling it over his head. He even tried grabbing the sonogram thing out of the doctors hand. Such a mess! The doctor was happy he was in a good mood and not screaming but he made it difficult for the doctor to get all the images he needed.

Let's walk!

With all this rain, humidity, and high temps, we have not been able to take any walks with Mason. Last night, FINALLY, we got a beautiful, cool evening. So we packed everybody up and hit the sidewalk. Auburn was super excited and Mason really liked it. He was quite and content the entire time. He was so busy looking around, taking it all in. He really likes being outside (it is one of the quickest ways to get him to stop crying). Auburn would often walk beside the stroller. I can't wait for the day Mason is chasing her all around the yard. Not sure if Auburn is. Ha! :) I really hope this is the first of many family walks.

Sun's out, tongue's out?

Not sure where he got it from or why he is doing it, but Mason loves to stick his tongue out. He does it all the time now. It may be the beginning of shoving everything within reach in his mouth. And the drooling has already begun thanks to this new "trick".

Mason's first 4th of July

Mason had a great 4th of July. We had a nice, relaxing afternoon hanging on the couch. Then that evening Ryan and Shannon came over. They got him a cute outfit to wear for the occasion. We grilled, watched some fireworks on TV, then shot some of our own. I was not ready to venture out into a big crowd with Mason to watch a big firework display. Maybe by Labor Day or New Years we can go see the "big boom" ones. :)

2 Month Checkup

Today was Mason's 2 month checkup (11 weeks old on Sunday the 5th). He has always done so well at the doctor's office and thankfully the trend continued. He loves the attention from the doctors and nurses. He lets them do their exam with little to no fussing. Today he weighed in at 11 lbs 1 ounce. That was enough for the doctor to not want us back for a weight check! Yay! He is 25 inches long (that's about 5 inches taller than birth) which puts him in the 90th percentile. Doug and I both have tall dads so that is not surprising. Everything else checked out great. The doctor was very pleased with his development and well being. Our next appointment is the 4 month check up. It is weird not having another appointment in two weeks. Not going to the doctor's office will be something new to get use to. Ha!

We did have to get 2 shots today. He isn't a fan but he is a very tough little man. He cries for a second and then he is over it. Unfortunately he was very fussy (aka screaming his head off) the rest of the day. Poor guy didn't feel good. We gave him Tylenol to help and let him eat and sleep as much as he wanted.

Things we know about Mason:
He is eating 5 ounces now. He eats about every 3 hours during the day and every 4 or more at night.
He is finally out of the newborn clothes. The 0-3 and 3 month old stuff is a little big but fit much better than they use to.
He is a little stinker. Literally! His toots sound like a grown man. Those and his dirty diapers can clear a room. Heck, the house!
He likes to eat his hands. Not big on the paci still, not big on the fingers, not big on sucking. Just likes to nom nom nom on those hands.
He is still favoring his left. I am secretly pulling for him to be a lefty. Just to be different. :)
He is starting to make sounds other than screaming. :) They are not much but it's a start.
He is really doing well holding his head up and having control over his head, arms, and legs. He will give you a fat lip or shiner real quick if you don't watch him. Burping has become hazardous to our well being.
He doesn't care for tummy time but we do as much as we can when he lets us. He prefers to lay on his back and play with his toys.
For the most part, he is a happy baby. He loves to interact with you and play. When he is fussy, he is either tired, wet, or hungry. the rest of the time he just chills.

Smiling and talking!

Mason's personality is really starting to show. He loves to smile and giggle. We are even getting a little baby talk starting.
